Finished-

Spinning

A Weekend of Spinning

I don’t get a chance to do much spinning during the week, so I tend to take advantage of the weekends and spin in the mornings on Saturday and Sunday before my husband wakes up. There is something extremely calming about the whirl of the spinning wheel, the feel of the fiber running through your fingers, and the light treadling to keep the wheel moving.

This weekend, I actually finished up some spinning. I have been working on a purple roving that has been in my stash so long that I couldn’t even begin to tell you what the fiber content is or even where I may have purchased it. It’s moved at least once with me as well. On Sunday, I finally finished it all up.

I even got the chance to use my new Ashford Niddy Noddy, which may be the best purchase I have made in a while. I have gone over ten years without a niddy noddy, but I finally decided that it was time to break down and buy the tool, especially now that I don’t have the Amish-style swift anymore to wind yarn on after finishing it up.

Valentino decided to try to help some with the spinning. So this project now gets to move out from WIP to FO. I have a bump of green fiber that I’m pretty sure was purchased at the same time as the purple fiber, so that will be next. I can’t remember who I purchased them from, but I do remember that I was going to use the finished yarn together for some kind of a cardigan. So, on to the green fiber!

In case anyone is interested, I was able to create a little over 300 yards of yarn from the fiber in four skeins.

Stay crafty!
