I actually finished something last night AND managed to get pictures of it! I cast on for this rainbow cowl while Brian was running in the Quarterhorse Marathon Relay race. The yarn is called Merino Mirage by Hooks & Needles and was part of the third subscription box I received from them last year. I didn’t really care for the patterns that came with the box, so I decided to use it for something else.
I really like how it came out, but there is a distinctive line where the second ball of yarn was added. I didn’t check, but I may have been sent two different dye lots since the yarn was definitely noticeably lighter than the first ball. It also could have been a super long repeat and I just managed to hit the wrong section.
The yarn itself was lovely to work with. If it hadn’t come in the subscription box, I more than likely would not have ever picked it up on my own. I’m normally not big on big, bold colors, and the price tag is a little heftier than what I would normally like to pay. But, it came in the box, so I had the chance to try out something I normally wouldn’t.
I’m going to be setting up an Etsy page hopefully this weekend. This will be one item that will be for sale there. It will be a one-of-a-kind item since there is no pattern and it was just a simple cable rib that I threw together for knitting in the round. In fact, it’s the same basic cable rib that it’s the Mr. Greenjeans cardigan, so I must have that particular cable stuck in my mind right now.
