Soap Making and a Concert

I took off Friday from work since I needed to burn a vacation day so that I didn’t lose it when we do the rollover this week. So, I decided to spend the day making some soap.

Ages ago, Brian had bought this soap making kit that he found at Goodwill and a small crock pot to go with it to heat up the soap base. Well, let’s just say this was forgotten. It even was moved from our old house to our new one. So, I decided it was time to make soap.

A tray of solid white soap base cut into squares, ready for melting and crafting.

The first step was to melt the soap base. I had shea butter and avocado/cucumber soap bases, so I started with the shea butter. You then can add color tint, which I did. It’s a mica powder, and I created a pinkish hue.

Freshly poured pink shea butter soap bars in a mold on a countertop with some bubbles on the surface.

You then pour the soap into a mold and let it harden. Voila, finished soap.

We also had tickets to go see Luke Bryan in concert in Cincinnati on Friday. We started off by getting a bourbon slushie.

A couple takes a selfie at a concert venue, enjoying a sunny day. One person holds a bourbon slushie, while the crowd is visible in the background.

The crowds kept growing. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen quite that many people crammed into a space like that. The concert was great though and we had a lot of fun.

I also did a lot more crafting the rest of the weekend, but that is a post for another day!

Stay crafty!
