Diamond Painting

Dotting and Braiding

This weekend was a good one for staying inside on Saturday since it rained off and on all day. I took advantage of that and worked on the diamond painting for a chunk of the day in between other household chores.

A diamond painting kit featuring a printed design of 'Starry Night' by Van Gogh, displayed on a table with a ruler for reference.

It’s coming right along. I do like the weekends when I can work for a chunk because you really can see progress. Now that we are in the week, that will slow down considerably.

I also tried my hand at learning the basic four strand kumihimo braiding. I am trying to learn how to ultimately make dog leashes for gifts and donation, but right now, I just need to learn the basics! This is out of some paracord that I picked up on a clearance rack a while back. The pack came with a bunch of shorter lengths of paracord in lots of different colors.

It was interesting. Once you get in the groove, it flies right along. I didn’t grab a picture of the finished cord, but it turned out pretty nice. I figure if nothing else, I’m making some rope that I can turn into some colorful baskets later on since I doubt this will be useful for much of anything else! The finished rope ended up being maybe 3 feet long (and that’s a maybe, probably not quite that much).

Stay crafty!
