Herbal Balms

One of my projects on my day off was to make some herbal balms. I had been infusing coconut oil with herbs over the past couple of weeks to get some health benefits infused in the oil. On Monday, I combined the oils, raw shea butter, and beeswax in equal parts, and made some balms. Here they are in their raw form getting ready to heat up.

Once everything was melted, I poured them into small quilted mason jars to let them cool since these were the smallest containers I had on hand.

Once cooled, they were ready for use. One is a calming balm to be used when there are bug bites or skin redness. I was able to get seven jars out of that batch. The second is a healing balm that is good for aches and pains as well as scratches since it has antibacterial properties and nervous system calming properties. I’ve already used some of that balm on my fingers since I have a couple of wicked hangnails and I woke up this morning to a much less irritated skin around the nails.

I love making herbal products like this. I think I’m going to work on some teas and bath teas next.

Stay crafty!
