New Travel Socks

Since I finished up the other pair of travel socks, it was time to cast on for a new pair to be able to work on while at lunch or waiting for appointments. I went through my stash and came across this very summery orange sock yarn that I picked up several years ago at a fiber festival, so I decided it was time for the yarn to be used.

I haven’t decided yet if these are going to be plain vanilla socks or if I want to do something a little different with them. I am still on the cuff, so I have a little bit of time to decide. I may go with a little bit of pattern on these just to mix things up.

I spent last night looking on Ravelry for a pattern that I liked for either a pullover or a cardigan. I finally settled on Caltha, a free Ravelry download that has just enough of a texture interest to keep me interested in the project, but is easy enough that I don’t have to squint at the pattern constantly.

I’m going to be using Berocco Mercado that I have in my stash in a very deep blue colorway. I think that it has enough texture that it will show off the pattern around the yoke of the sweater pretty well. I didn’t work on it at all last night since I didn’t decide on a pattern until it was close to bedtime, so I’ll get started on this more than likely either tonight or tomorrow night.
